Destiny 2 is going F2P and moving to Steam
Destiny 2: New Light has been announced by Bungie via a video on their official channel. Now that Bungie is also publishing Destiny 2 (after escaping Acti-Blizz's grasp) they want to make big changes to the game.
The Next Chapter for Destiny 2
In the video they talk about the future of D2:
- the free version of the game, called New Light, will also include the Year 1 DLCs (Warmind, Curse of Osiris)
- the free version will feature a new starting experience
- they want to add the RPG elements back to D2 (with Armor 2.0 gear will offer more stats)
- the next DLC, Shadowkeep, will be standalone, meaning players won't have to own the previous one, Forsaken (also all upcoming DLCs will follow the same principle)
- the PvP aspect of the game will be reinvigorated
- there will be cross-platform saves between PC, PS4, XBONE, Stadia
- the game will need a new house as it is not welcomed anymore on Battle.net, so Bungie decided to move D2 to Steam
Shadowkeep is already available on Steam for pre-oder and it costs 35 euro.
