Hello Games Launches "Worlds Part 1" for No Man’s Sky
Hello Games proves yet again it is the studio that never sleeps, even on a game they launched 8 years ago. The newest expansion for No Man’s Skys is called “Worlds, " which is only Part 1! Worlds Part 1 was centered predominantly on enriching the visuals and immersively of the planets, with special improvements to the water and clouds as well as a complete refresh of the universe. It also features new technology, fauna, gameplay, and planet variety, all expanded with the capabilities of improved recent technology and advancements in the industry.
With the new implementation of weather conditions, the gamer can now witness the full spectrum of a great storm such as waves within the water reacting to the winds and the cloud patterns matching the intensity and degree of the weather conditions. Adding more to the immersion factor, there are also new volumetrics like sparks from lava, rain, and fog. Along with these environmental changes and enhancements come new creatures that gamers can discover and defeat. Featured in the trailer were some bug-like creatures that might be familiar to those who have played a mission or two defeating the Terminids in Helldivers. It’s no surprise that recent updates to No Man’s Sky might borrow a bit from the newly popular game, as they share the same notion of traveling space to explore differentiating planets and are set up nicely to complement each other.
In a deep dive with Hello Game’s Director, Sean Murray speaks about how he “Wanted the player to feel like they had stepped into the cover of a Science Fiction novel” and it looks like they have perfectly captured that attitude with Worlds Part 1. He also mentions how working on their new game, Light No Fire, makes him feel like they are “bringing this new technology back from the future.” Sean goes on to describe how the new expedition is inspired by Starship Troopers (much like the aforementioned Helldivers) and that the rewards are community-driven and “super cool.” If you'd like to take a look at the new trailer and hear everything Sean has to say about the expansion, take a look at the full deep dive below!
The expansion is (yet again) free for anyone who owns the game, and only part 1 of the future planned expansions for an already expansive and rich game. If you’ve been keeping tabs on the game throughout its progression, you know how much time and work they have put into it, and it’s a great time to dive in alone or with your friends and experience it for yourself!
